2From the fruit of his mouth a man eats what is good, but the desire of the treacherous is for violence.
In certain contexts I can be pretty clear-headed, but the sinful state of my heart comes out when I am in situations where it cannot be as easily hidden. Last year was incredibly stressful for us and I almost lost it one day at a paint store. I was driving around town all day before turning into a store where a guy and his girlfriend were in a heated conversation. As I turned into a spot next to them he looked at me with some serious intensity. He mumbled something under his breath. Before I knew it I said, "Do you want to talk about something?" Thankfully he just got in his car, but I was pretty amazed at myself. I called a few guys and told them what had happened and asked for prayer.
I've also been reading through James lately and there are some strong words about turning away from anger. Pray along with me for Christ-likeness to take over and for sinful anger to fade away by His grace.
19Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; 20for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God. 21Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.
